The Department of the Capital is located in the northwest of the
province of Mendoza.
Although it presents a semi-desert climate, the city of MendozMendoza is an Oasis City, which lies in the artificial irrigation – a
result of the work and effort of many Mendocinos – the
fundamentals of their existence. Therefore, its trees and parks,
the acequias (canals along the sidewalk), the wide sidewalks and
renewed places offer the residents and visitors an excellent
quality of life.
This department has a dynamic artistic and cultural activity;
there are theatres, museums, art galleries and exhibitions of
handicrafts, which enrich the variety of options.
The City is the ideal starting point for excursions into the
major tourist attractions in the province, such as the Wine
Roads, the mountains, rivers, hot springs and nature
reservations.
 The night in the city of Mendoza is appealing to people of all
ages. The street Arístides Villanueva, offers the youth several
bars, pubs and discos. It is the main meeting place before
starting night at the local dance clubs, in the outskirts of the
city. In addition, the pedestrian street Sarmiento and the
homonymous street, provide different options of cafes and
restaurants of a high level to satisfy the most demanding
palates with international cuisine, always accompanied by the
best wines from Mendoza.
Together with the departments of Las Heras, Guaymallén, Godoy
Cruz, and the urban areas of Maipú and Lujan, creates the Great
Mendoza, constituting the fourth urban population agglomerate
and the fourth in importance in importance Argentina.
Mendoza is positioned as one of the most important cities of
Argentina, due to its strategic point of socio-economic
development in the Mercosul and its relation with Chile.
Tourist Attractions
The city of Mendoza is divided into four very distinct,
attractive, and inviting sectors: the Foundation Area, the
Microcenter (main commercial area), the Civic District, and the
General San Martin Park.
