The
“Luján de Cuyo” Circuit starts in Mendoza city, and
after going nineteen kilometres to the South, reaches Luján de
Cuyo town. This is the head of a very important farming
and industrial department, which after the year 1880s
experienced a great development, especially because of the
construction of the César Cipolletti distributing dam in
addition to the irrigation work done.
Its square is one of the most attractive in Mendoza,
full of trees and colourful flowers that still keep the
spirit of a countryside village. Around it there are
the civic centre, churches and the commercial area of
the town.
This place has several hydroelectric power stations near
the river and a very important petroleum refinery as
well. There are many districts together and as a result,
this town has its own cultural life, offering a lively
nightlife.
Luján de Cuyo is the place where the Wine Roads show
real importance; it is in this region that some of the
world famous wineries found the perfect combination of
soil and weather conditions to produce grapes with a
great concentration of aromas, flavours and body.
There are old farmhouses, farms and ranches, which take
the visitors closer to their history, culture and the
typical Mendoza character. These places have been
completely equipped to provide great comfort to their
guests. There you will be able to enjoy delicious
typical food, marmalades and preserves are
prepared in a traditional style, and an unforgettable
opportunity to know the secrets of the winemaking
process with the different grape varieties.
Moreover, there is also the possibility of going on an
amazing horseback ride, going trekking or doing some
other outdoors activities, among which there are
photograph safaris and sports fishing.
