Circuito Turistico Malargue, Mendoza

The Malargüe circuit starting in Malargue City is 420 kilometres South of the capital of the Mendoza Province. In it it is possible to visit and enjoy charming places, such as the “Laguna de la Niña Encantada” (the Charmed Girl Lake), the “Pozo de las Animas” (the Animas well), the “Castillos de Pincheira” (the Pincheira Castles), the “Caverna de las Brujas” (the Witches Cave), with its stalagmites and stalactites. Moreover, there are the fauna sanctuaries Payunia and Llancanelo; you could visit the Hermoso or the Noble Valleys. In addition, Malargüe offers the possibility of practicing mountain biking or horseback riding, outdoors thermal spring baths in the Cajón Grande or Sulfur baths; if you prefer you could just relax in the Los Molles hot springs, where skiing is also an alternative.

Some other options to visit are: the Malargüe Regional Museum, internationally famous for its collection of dinosaurs remains of archaeological and paleonthological value and which are up to a hundred and fifty million years old. The Rufino Ortega Mill, first industry built in the 19th century, the Fortín Malargüe, a valuable historic monument built with toba volcanic stone, the Petrified Forest which is more than a hundred and twenty million years old, or the Chihuido water fall are some other attractions.

The “Fiesta Nacional del Chivo” (the Goat National Party), celebrated in January and February, should not be missed; You can taste the best barbecued goat, which is cooked on the flame or on the embers.

When the winter comes, you can enjoy unforgettable days in the Las Leñas ski resort and participate in the Snow Festival in July.

In this modern city, there are good hotels and services.

Their main celebration is the “Fiesta Nacional de la Ganadería de Zonas Áridas”, the Livestock from the Arid Zones National Festival. Another important event in their tourist calendar is the Veal Fair.

There are some interesting circuits that can take you to the Trapal Lake, the Pique, and to Toma de San Pedro; they also pass by some farms, some local factories and some old farmhouses from the end of the 19th century.

Among their attractions the Natural Science Museum and the Wine Museum stand out, the latter is associated with an old winery that has an original Egyptian alter piece.
