Then
there is the Plaza Pedro del Castillo, the foundation
area of Mendoza (March 2, 1561), there is a beautiful
museum, in which it is possible to observe "trenches" of
archaeological excavations, elements and images from the
Mendoza past. In the back, there are modules and friezes
by modern artists who evoke the life of the Huarpe and
cultural-historical facts. Almost at the center of the
square, there is the crypt of the original fountain,
which used to receive the drinking water at the time. A
frieze of impressive dimensions lies on the west
sidewalk of the square completing an impeccable
architectural collection. The tour ends at the ruins of
San Francisco, across from the square, declared a
National Historical Monument; a few blocks away, there
is the San Martín solarium and on the Montecaseros
street there is the Church of La Merced.
* Driving Circuit
They are conducted through the streets and avenues, with
all services for tourists and their vehicle. Its
duration varies between four to five hours; it does not
exceed thirty kilometres. They can be done throughout
the year.
- Circuit 1: City and History
It includes a tour through the Alameda and the Plaza del
Area Fundacional towards the Las Heras department, the
San Martin Avenue, up to the Independencia Avenue,
arriving at the Historic Camp El Plumerillo, place where
the Liberation Army was prepared. From there, the
Costanera Avenue is runs towards the Guaymallén
department, along the historic channel Cacique
Guaymallén, to visit the Casa Molina Pico Museum, el
Bermejo, the Chapel of the Virgen del Rosario, a winery
that produces champagnes, ciders, wine and sherry, and
returning through the East Access, there is an important
shopping circuit and big stores.
- Circuit 2: Nightlife
This circuit can be started in the afternoon to visit
the Calvary and the Church of the Carrodilla next to the
Museum of Indian Carvings. From there, taking the
Panamericana Route, we get to a major shopping mall
where you can enjoy an exquisite dinner and
entertainments, continuing through the Panamericana
towards Lujan, there is the place where the most popular
discos are, and which is an area frequented by tourists
and Mendocinos.
- Circuit 3: City and its outskirts
It begins at Emilio Civit Avenue, and then the Park
General San Martin is visited. This is an "oasis within
the oasis", planned by the architect Carlos Thays, with
its already classic entrance gates, with its charming lake, beautiful sculptures, and water
fountains, well kept gardens, a variety of clubs with
restaurants, and fast food places.
Following along Avenida del Libertador, you can visit
the Provincial Stadium, get to the University Campus, and
to the Aboriginal Park, or continue towards the Cerro de
la Gloria, where the Monument to the Liberation Army
will impress the tourists.
